Baslow Hall, a typical Derbyshire Manor House with a Michelin-starred restaurant, lies on the edge of the magnificent Chatsworth Estate in the heart of the Peak District National Park.
Despite its Elizabethan appearance, the Hall was in fact built in 1907 for the Reverend Stockdale and was a private house until Max and Susan Fischer came here in 1999 to create their 'Restaurant with Rooms'. The time taken in restoring and refurbishing the building enables us to offer you the highest standards of accommodation. Our bedrooms are decorated in a truly individual and elegant style and have been awarded the prestigious Cesar Award for the 'Best Restaurant-with-Rooms in Britain and Ireland' by the Good Hotel Guide 1998. We have a total of 11 bedrooms, the five 'Garden House' rooms being of a more contemporary style, set within a private courtyard.
Our Michelin-starred Dining Room continues to achieve national recognition from all major guidebooks, the latest being the Good Food Guide 2008 – rated Fischer’s number 24 in the top 40 restaurants in the UK. In the AA Guide 2008 we have maintained our 4 red rosettes and are still one of only 15 restaurants in the UK to receive 4 rosettes for innovative cuisine. Under the personal supervision Head Chef Rupert Rowley you can be assured of the very best of Modern European cuisine during your stay with us. Some of our delights may include pan-fried scallops with a broccoli & almond puree and garlic crisps for a starter, roast best end and braised shoulder of Derbyshire lamb with pommes boulangere and rosemary jus for main, followed by lemon chiboust with crispy gingerbread, bay leaf ice cream and lemon jelly.
